Christmas at Shere Village Cinema

We've got a lot coming up at Shere Village Cinema and don't want you to miss out on any of it so read on and have your diary handy.

December 18th at 8.30pm - Four Christmases

A feel-good romp of a movie with the delightful Reese Witherspoon and ever-droll Vince Vaughn struggling to make sense of Christmas with their respective odd-ball families. Funny, romantic, lightweight it's a seasonal silly set to entertain.

Please note this performance will start at the slightly later time of 8.30.

December 29th at 2pm - Zootropolis

A fabulous family film that we really hope will bring in all ages. It has been nominated for several major film awards in 2017 including the Golden Globe Award for the Best Animated Feature Film.

Refreshments will include popcorn and squash or please feel free to bring your own. A squishy bean bag or comfy seat await depending on your inclination.

December 29th at 7.30pm - Top Hat

Then, on the same evening, we  have our Christmas Celebration from 7.30. Top Hat is the classic movie on offer and yes the rumours are true there will be dancing! We are very fortunate to have found a tap teacher to come along and demonstrate some steps and teach us all a few Fred and Ginger moves.

Fancy Dress is optional but if you have a hat and cane why not bring them? Tickets for this event will include an array of canapes and snacks and soft drinks so save some room to enjoy what promises to be a very special evening. Tickets for this event need to be booked in advance by the 16th of December or thereafter by arrangement with a committee member.

Thanks for reading and a very Happy Christmas from all of us on the team!

Christmas Celebration

Special Announcement:

Dust off your top hat and join us for our Christmas Celebration on December 29th at 7.30pm.

There will be plenty of merriment with a good old fashioned sing-along, some extra special refreshments and canapés, and maybe a little dancing! Oh – and please do dress up if you want (although this is totally optional!)

We will be showing one of the best Fred Astaire-Ginger Rogers musicals EVER! Top Hat centres on a typical and highly entertaining “mistaken-identity” plot. Showman Jerry Travers (Astaire) is working for producer Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton) in London. Jerry demonstrates his new dance steps late one night in Horace's hotel, much to the annoyance of sleeping Dale Tremont (Rogers) below. She goes upstairs to complain and the two are immediately attracted to each other. Complications arise when Dale mistakes Jerry for Horace (husband of her friend Madge).

The Irving Berlin score includes "Cheek to Cheek," "Isn't it a Lovely Day?," and the jaunty title song “Top Hat”. The dancing in a couple of the numbers in this film reaches a point of pure perfection. Stunning.

It’s going to be a fun night … PRE-BOOKED TICKETS ONLY!

Tickets cost £7.50 and includes pre-movie canapés.

We only have a limited number of tickets available so please book early.

Proud to support the local community

Shere Village Cinema is proud to have been able to donate £3,500 of it's surpluses from the last 18 months film events to three worthy recipients: £1,500 to Peaslake Free School, £1,500 to Shere Infant School and £500 to Shere Village Nursery.

Receiving the cheques from Angus Cormie, David Roe and Louise Duncan from the SVC Committee, are the Head Teachers and some very well behaved girls and boys.

The committee really appreciates the support from the community - and would love to see you at a future event.
