Shere Hill Climb 2017

sherehillclimblogoShere Village Cinema is once again proud to support the Shere Hill Climb on Sunday September 3rd, 2017. Shere Hill Climb has become one of the most successful Hill Climb events in the UK. In only 4 years it has become a great, eclectic event with 175 vehicles running the hill, an autotest, motoring stands and stalls, family entertainment and an affordable social day of fun in beautiful countryside.

More details about the event can be found at http://www.sherehillclimb.co.uk/

After enjoying a fun day out at the event, come along to the Shere Village Cinema to watch the new film McLaren.

McLaren follows the story of Bruce McLaren, the New Zealander who founded the McLaren Motor Racing team. A man who showed the world that a man of humble beginnings could take on the elite of motor racing and win. This biographical drama is about his career in the fast lane before he was tragically killed at the age of just 32 years, just as he was really becoming a household name.

This fascinating film consists of original black and white film, still photos, interviews and race re-enactments.

And, we've uncovered a very local connection with McLaren: the motor racing photographer Mike Cooper from Farley Green knew McLaren well and you will notice several of Mike's black and white stills featured in the film as the story unfolds. Before the film begins, we will be told more about Mike's photographic career in the 1960s, in the days before health and safety, when unrestricted access to the trackside was the norm! It will be a fascinating night so please make sure you come along and support this special event. All profits will be donated to the Shere Hill Climb charities.

Finally, if you are visiting the Hill Climb on Sunday, please come to see us in our Shere Village Cinema gazebo in the showground for a chat and to find out more about the cinema and our film programme. We will also be selling tickets for McLaren or you can book online by clicking here.

See you all on Sunday.
